Janie Harris

Janie Harris LRAD, ARAD School Founder

Janie has been running her own school for 25 years. After training locally, she qualified as a teacher with the Royal Academy of Dancing (LRAD). Whilst working for Madeline Sharp, Janie continued her training with Ruth French. She also danced professionally during 1966-7. In addition, she served on the RAD's executive committee, and was Secretary/Treasurer for the Surrey Region. Qualified in (and has also taught) Body Mechanics Therapy since 2001.


Elizabeth Gregory B Phil (Hons), LRAD, ARAD

School Principal

Elizabeth is a former pupil of Janie's who went on to graduate from The College of The Royal Academy of Dance. She successfully ran her own school for 15 years, after which Elizabeth became Head of Ballet at Brighton College, an Independent Sussex boarding school. Elizabeth maintains close links with the RAD as a member of the South East Area Committee, as well as being a Practical Teaching Supervisor for student teachers on the CBTS.

Cliodna Shanhan

Cliodna Shanahan Pianist

Cliodna studied at the Yehudi Menhuin School for five years with Ruth Nye. She was recently awarded a Mmus degree in Advanced Performance from the Royal College of Music having earlier graduated with a 1st class honours Bmus. She has won many awards and continues to give concerts both solo and with her trio. We are extremely fortunate to welcome her to the school.

Tayla Best BA (Hons) LRAD, ARAD

Tayla started her dance training at Chilton Dance Centre in Wellington, New Zealand studying ballet, tap, contemporary, musical theatre and jazz. While in New Zealand, Tayla got accepted onto the BA Hons in Ballet Education programme at the Royal Academy of Dance. While on this course, Tayla completed her Advanced 2 exam and also became a Licentiate of The Royal Academy of Dance. Tayla graduated in 2017 and is excited to pass on her passion of dancing onto the next generation.

Monica Tapiador BA (Hons)

Principal Dancer at English Youth Ballet since 2014. Monica started her training at the Consuelo Navarrete Academy in Spain where she trained for nine years before working internationally for a variety of ballet companies. She gained a BA (Honours) degree at the University Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid. She has danced with the Young Ballet of Madrid, Theatre La Scala Milan Italy, The Royal Ballet Opera House Covent Garden and English National Ballet. With the latter Company she has danced roles in Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Etudes, Romeo and Juliette, Sleeping Beauty. She has an extensive knowledge and understanding of Pilates and Yoga as methods of sustaining a healthy dancer's body and mind. Certificated in Progressive Ballet Technique programme.
