Dear All,
Nearly there apart from the finishing touches - me finishing making up the ballets and on to the staging, there are still a lot of hooks and eyes to sew on, shoes to dye (Matchgirls, puppets, soldiers, rocking horses and Jack-in-a box) I have lost count of the costumes and I still have 21 Romantic tutus to make! So if I have been a bit preoccupied these last weeks - that is why - because everything is not assembled yet!
So here are what I hope are to be most of the final details.
1. Matchgirls, puppets, soldiers, rocking horses and Jack-in-a box, PLEASE give in your NAMED ballet shoes to dye.
2. Each child has to have his/her own named lipstick (hygiene!) See end of letter
3. Mice, Allsorts, Rag dolls, Ballerina dolls, Angels and Sylphs all need clean pink satin ballet shoes with pink elastic across the instep. I have fitted most people with these and need the payment in an envelope marked SHOES and the child's name. Sizes 9 - 5 1/2 £8.95, 6 and 6 1/2 £9.95. This is the usual price you would pay in Juliennes but they give me 10% off which goes to Make Poverty History. If you already have clean satin shoes let me know.
4.SATURDAY 25 February - Only minders and people running the tuckshop should plan to stay at the hall as we are very short of space.
SUNDAY CAST OF Matchgirls EVERYONE - PLEASE arrive before 9.00am as I want to set the finale and run the ballet through with both casts Followed by COSTUME PARADE. I try not to overrun. Tuck shop available. No Fizzy drinks. SATURDAY CAST Matchgirls 10.30am - 11.30am.11.30 SYLPHS. Again, I would like to do two run throughs Sunday cast first.1.30pm or earlier COSTUME PARADE
I plan to give out costumes to Grade4 upwards. Please keep them on their hangers and in their named bag and bring EVERYTHING to the full dress rehearsal on 4th March. PHOTOGRAPHS!!!!Please check that all the fastenings are in the right place and secure before dress rehearsal.
5. All Classes during the week will be at normal times - but we will rehearse if needed. Please come in ballet uniform, not rehearsal clothes.
6. DRESS REHEARSAL 4th March at usual hall. Times as for 25th Feb. but you must come with your hair done because of the photos. These will be group photos but you MUST have your complete costume and your hair done!
7. FRIDAY 10th March FULL Dress Rehearsal - except Primaries and Grade 1s. PLEASE arrive with hair done 4.30pm at The Barn Theatre, Oxted (Map and directions will be provided) PLEASE share lifts - as the parking is the only bad thing about the Barn theatre - unless you are a badged and CR cleared helper and are staying to the end of the rehearsal DO NOT PARK in the Barn car park or you will be STUCK! Park in the road and deliver you children and their complete costume to the side door.
COMPLETE RUN THROUGH IN COSTUME Saturday cast Matchgirls, Grade 2s finished by 6.30pm and Sylphs, everyone finished by 9.00pm, I hope. Only minders with badges may stay at The Barn as there is very little space back stage and please obey with good humour the saints who are directing the parking! Please wait in the auditorium at the end of rehearsal to collect your children. Photos will be taken at this rehearsal.
